CM warns the corrupt, reiterates zero tolerance for corruption – myuttarakhandnews.com | Uttarakhand News in English | Dehradun News Today| News Uttarakhand | Uttarakhand latest news

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reiterated his government’s resolve to maintain a policy of zero tolerance for corruption in the State. Speaking at a programme in Tharali on Friday, the chief minister issued a clear warning to officers and employees. He said that recently a bridge under construction in Tharali had collapsed. Dhami said that this was a clear case of serious negligence. “I took immediate cognisance of this incident and the three engineers responsible were suspended without delay. Stern action will be taken against any officer or employee found negligent or complacent in his or her work, or uninterested in officials responsibilities. In this case where three engineers were suspended, the work was being done with public money, the hard earned money of the citizens which would have been useful in facilitating the development of the State. We have also decided that in such a case where money is wasted during the construction of any project, the contractor who had the tender for the bridge will be made to compensate for the loss,” the CM said. It will be recalled that taking a stern note of the collapse of the under construction bridge on Pinder river at Tharali in Chamoli district on Thursday, Dhami had ordered suspension of three engineers of the Public Works Department. PWD secretary Pankaj Kumar Pandey had issued suspension orders of these engineers. Dhami has repeatedly stressed that every officer and employee should work with a sense of responsibility towards his duties and responsibilities. All the employees should work with honesty and devotion.
