
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami greeted the public on the occasion of Deepawali. At a Diwali Pujan programme held at the Bharatiya Janata Party State office here on Sunday evening, the CM said that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms introduced by the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi had enhanced the savings of the people this Deepawali. He also exhorted the people of Uttarakhand to buy Swadeshi products in line with the Vocal for Local campaign to make this festival one which contributes towards an Atmanirbhar Bharat. Dhami said that the festival of Deepawali also holds special importance for the economic and social development of the nation. “The Central government under PM Modi has implemented next generation GST which has further simplified the commercial environment across the nation. With a drop in GST rates, this Deepawali is also being celebrated as ‘Maha Bachat Utsav’, which has considerably benefitted both the business fraternity and the consumers,” the CM said. He also exhorted the people to adopt Swadeshi products and contribute towards making India a self-reliant nation. India is not just a big market now but is also establishing itself as an emerging global economic power. The British Prime Minister had recently said that India is progressing towards becoming the world’s largest economic power by 2028, Dhami added. The BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt and other party leaders were also present on the occasion.
