
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Haridwar Union Tourism and Culture minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that the development of great civilisations in the world has been possible through collective character development. He was speaking at a centenary event at Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya here on Sunday. The Union minister said that an empowered culture and enduring civilisation is built when people in the society make moral values, discipline and the sense of service their basis. Speaking on the occasion, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami appreciated the event held to honour Bhagwati Devi Sharma’s selfless service, a life of penance and spiritual practice. He opined that the Gayatri Parivar cannot be bound within an organisational limit as it signifies the transfer of awareness from a person to society and from society towards the upliftment of the nation. Dhami reiterated that the State government is consistently working to preserve the original form of Devbhumi Uttarakhand. The Uniform Civil Code has been implemented in the State along with a strict anti-riot and religious conversion Acts while more than 10,000 acre land has been freed from encroachment, he said. Addressing the gathering, the university’s pro vice chancellor Chinmay Pandya said that change in the individual is the first condition for social change. The foundation for rebuilding the society and nation becomes strong only when the individual has the courage to change himself first, he added. State’s Tourism and Culture minister Satpal Maharaj, local MLA Madan Kaushik and others were also present on the occasion.
