Monday, 25 March 2024 | my uttarakhand news | DEHRADUN After time consuming deliberations, the Congress finally announced its candidates for the Haridwar and Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar Lok Sabha constituencies late on Saturday. The party has fielded Virendra Rawat, the son of former chief minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat from Haridwar seat and Prakash Joshi from Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar constituency. Rawat has been active in the Congress since his college days and his father was also advocating for him. Joshi on the other hand has worked as a member of former Congres president Rahul Gandhi’s team in the past. The party had earlier announced its candidates for the three other seats in Uttarakhand fielding Pradeep Tamta from Almora, Jot Singh Gunsola from Tehri and former Pradesh Congress Committee president Ganesh Godiyal from the Garhwal constituency. With the Congress announcing its candidates for Haridwar and Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar constituencies, the campaigning for the elections has intensified with the two national parties- Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress being the main contenders. The BJP has fielded sitting MPs Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah from Tehri, Ajay Tamta from Almora, Ajay Bhatt from Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar and former chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat from Haridwar and Anil Baluni from Garhwal constituency.
