Dehradun, 24 Nov: Chief Secretary (CS) Anand Bardhan today directed the officials to accelerate the establishment of computer labs and libraries in PM SHRI schools. Reviewing the progress of the scheme at the Secretariat here, today, Bardhan instructed that the computer labs must be set up within the next one month and emphasised the immediate allocation of budget for school libraries.
The CS further directed officials to expedite the establishment of integrated science labs in 32 PM SHRI schools and instructed that the budget for these labs be released within one month. With regard to the Tinkering Labs, he asked the officials to maintain continuous communication with IIT Kanpur to ensure their swift availability and completion of the work within the stipulated timeframe. He also stressed that action be taken at the earliest to ensure that all PM SHRI schools have access to sports grounds.
During the meeting, it was shared that a total of 226 schools in the state have been selected as PM SHRI schools, including 34 primary and 192 secondary schools. In addition, approval has been received for 15 more schools. Officials reported that out of the 22 components of the PM SHRI scheme, 16 have already been implemented in full, while work on the remaining six components is progressing at different stages.
