PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Chief secretary Anand Bardhan reviewed the preparation of the State administration for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra on Thursday. In the meeting, the CS directed all the departments to fulfil their assigned responsibilities in a timely and effective manner to ensure a safe and well organised Yatra this year. Bardhan directed the Health secretary, Sachin Kurve to fully operationalise all hospitals on the Kedarnath-Badrinath route. He asked the department of Power to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the Yatra. The CS directed the Disaster Management and Police departments to set in place a plan to inform travellers about traffic jams, congestion or any other emergencies along the Yatra route through WhatsApp alerts. They were also instructed to submit a progress report within a week. It was decided that in case of hindrance in Yatra due to any emergency, the responsibility of determining the duration and place will be with the commissioner Garhwal division. The CS instructed the officers concerned to ensure advance positioning of necessary machines, equipment and tools on the Yatra route with mapping of assets, so that their quick use can be ensured when required. Bardhan directed the Animal Husbandry department to ensure arrangements in coordination with local bodies for registration, treatment and proper disposal of livestock in case of casualties on the Yatra route by the CS. The CS also directed that QR codes should be placed at key landmarks, allowing travellers to obtain important information about the location and its surroundings. He said that clear signages should be installed at all key points. The CS added that standard operating procedures (SOPs) should be issued for travel operators. He directed the district magistrates of Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi to coordinate with all departments, agencies and stakeholders at the local level to streamline arrangements. Principal secretary RK Sudhanshu, additional director general of Police V Murugesan, secretary Sachin Kurve, Ranbir Singh, DS Gabriyal, Brajesh Sant, Vinod Kumar Suman, commissioner Garhwal Vinay Shankar Pandey and other officers attended the meeting.
