Dehradun, 19 Jan: During the second episode, today, of the “Shiksha Ki Baat” programme organised by Samagra Shiksha Uttarakhand, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, and the Secretary, Education, Ravinath Raman, interacted directly with thousands of students through virtual classrooms operating in various schools across the state. The interactive session was conducted virtually from the central studio located at Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalaya, Dehradun.
Addressing the students, the Chief Secretary cited the example of a pencil, stating that just as it must endure sharpening to become useful, there is no alternative to hard work for achieving success in life. He advised students not to become slaves to mobile phones and technology, but instead to use them wisely as supportive tools.
While sharing insights on career and skill development, the Chief Secretary emphasised that securing good marks alone is not sufficient. He stressed the importance of developing sportsmanship, artistic abilities, and communication skills. He also directed schools to invite local officials such as Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), bank managers, and doctors to schools for career guidance sessions for students.
At the conclusion of the programme, students took a pledge to respect their parents and teachers, study honestly and diligently, and strive to become better human beings. The programme proved to be a strong platform for boosting students’ self-confidence and preparing them to face future challenges.
The programme was attended by Vandana Gabryal, Director, Academic Research and Training; Amrita Jaiswal, Deputy State Project Director; Ajit Bhandari, Deputy State Project Director; Pallavi Nain, Deputy State Project Director; along with officers of Samagra Shiksha Uttarakhand. Representatives of Edutainment Pvt Ltd, including Director Balachandran, Mansi, and Ravi Jha, were also present. The programme was conducted by Dr BP Maindoli, Staff Officer, Samagra Shiksha Uttarakhand.
At the end of the session, the Chief Secretary administered the following three pledges to the students:
To respect their parents and teachers.
To pursue studies with honesty and hard work.
To strive every day to become a better human being.
