DGP orders suspension of two cops after murders in Dehradun and Rishikesh – myuttarakhandnews.com | Uttarakhand News in English | Dehradun News Today| News Uttarakhand | Uttarakhand latest news

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE / Dehradun In a high-level review meeting on crime and law and order, chaired by director general of police (DGP) Deepam Seth, strict action was ordered in two recent murder cases. Taking the matter seriously, the DGP suspended Khudbura Chowki in-charge SI Pradyumn Negi for negligence in the Gunjan murder case. He also suspended All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Chowki in-charge Sahil Vashisht for negligence in the murder of an AIIMS assistant in Rishikesh. Considering the sensitivity of crimes against women, the investigation in both cases has been handed over to superintendent of police (SP) Crime, Vishakha Ashok Bhadane. After the meeting, Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for a thorough investigation into the Gunjan murder case. On Tuesday, the police produced the accused in the Gunjan murder case before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court, which sent him to 14 days in judicial custody. Investigation in the case revealed that two days before the murder, the victim had filed a police complaint against the accused Akash, stating that she feared for her life. However, no strict action was reportedly taken at that time. Taking this lapse seriously, the SSP suspended the Khudbura Chowki in-charge and handed over the investigation of the case to the Inspector of Kotwali. On Monday at around 10 AM, the accused Akash allegedly murdered Gunjan Srivastava by slitting her throat. The incident took place at Ansari Marg, Dulha Bazaar, creating panic in the area. Angry shopkeepers and local residents shut down shops in Paltan Bazaar and accused the police of failing to take timely and proper action. It may be noted that in Rishikesh, an AIIMS assistant was shot dead on Saturday night. In this case, the police arrested 40-year-old Suresh Gupta from Chhutmalpur in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
