DGP visits Dharali, reviews ongoing rescue operations – myuttarakhandnews.com | Uttarakhand News in English | Dehradun News Today| News Uttarakhand | Uttarakhand latest news

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun Uttarakhand director general of police Deepam Seth visited the Dharali disaster site in Uttarkashi on Friday to review ongoing rescue operations. After landing at Matli helipad and attending a meeting with the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, he proceeded to Harsil. At Matli, he met with police officials and instructed them to speed up relief and evacuation efforts. The Police, SDRF, NDRF, Army, ITBP, Fire Service and Revenue teams are working at the affected site in Uttarkashi. The inspector general of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Arun Mohan Joshi informed the DGP that the SDRF is conducting intensive searches in the affected area using advanced equipment, including victim locating cameras, thermal imaging cameras and dog squads, to locate people trapped under debris from damaged buildings. He reported that stranded people are being airlifted to Matli and Chinyalisaur. Over 128 people were rescued to ITBP Matli and 76 to Chinyalisaur airstrip, from where they were sent to their destinations on Friday. The SDRF is also working with the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to rebuild the broken bridge at Gangnani and restore traffic and supply routes. Construction of a Bailey bridge at Limcha Gad near Gangnani is in progress. Work is also underway to clear blockages caused by riverbank erosion near Sonagad and Dabrani and to restore road connectivity to Harsil and Dharali.
