PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun Condemning the terrorist attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam of Jammu and Kashmir, chief minister Puskhar Singh Dhami said that the government will certainly avenge this dastardly act and harshest punishment will be given to the culprits. He participated in the ‘ Rajkeeya Kranti Diwas fair organized at at Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Memorial Site in Peethasain, Thalisain, Pauri on Wednesday. The Fair was organised on the occasion of the anniversary of the Peshawar incident. Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that today we are able to breathe freely due to the sacrifice of the brave freedom fighters. Dhami said that Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali will always remain the pride of Uttarakhand. His refusal to fire on the unarmed people in Peshawar will remain immortal in history and this act had set an example of humanity and morality. The CM said that the State government is making every effort to keep the memory of Veer Garhwali intact. He said that Uttarakhand is not only Devbhoomi but is also a Veerbhoomi. Dhami said that the State government is committed to the welfare of the families of freedom fighters and soldiers deployed on the country’s border. The State government has increased the ex-gratia assistance given to the families of martyred soldiers from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. The CM said that one person from the family of martyred soldiers is also being given a government job. The pension of freedom fighters and their widows has been increased from Rs 21,000 to Rs 25,000 . He said that Uttarakhand is the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code law. He said that strict land laws have been brought in accordance with public sentiment. After the implementation of the anti-copying law, more than 22,000 youngsters have been appointed in different departments of the State government. The Higher Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali, the hero of Peshawar incident, is a symbol of the country’s consciousness, morality and human values. He said that Garhwali put his career and life at stake to protect humanity. He appealed to the youth to take inspiration from the life of Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali and follow the path of patriotism, honesty and courage. He said that Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali’s biography will be included in the school curriculum in the State. He said that an auditorium will be constructed in Thalisain.
