PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday directed all district magistrates to prioritise the effective management of the Char Dham Yatra, forest fire prevention and the availability of drinking water. He addressed them virtually on Monday and instructed them to treat public grievance redressal as a top priority to ensure transparency and accountability in governance. He reviewed the preparations for the ensuing Char Dham Yatra and instructed officials to coordinate closely with local public representatives, hotel owners and other stakeholders. He told all departments and district administrations to strengthen arrangements during the Yatra. He said the Char Dham Yatra not only holds religious importance but also supports the local economy. He directed officials to maintain continuous coordination with stakeholders and ensure the pilgrimage remains clean, well-organised and environmentally sustainable. He told them to prioritise cleanliness, beautification and passenger facilities along the travel routes. He also instructed them to improve traffic management to avoid inconvenience to both pilgrims and locals. On forest fire control, the CM directed the Forest department and DMs to stay fully prepared. He told them to ensure the availability of equipment in fire-prone areas and to update the contact details of local representatives and residents for rapid response. He asked them to deploy teams, monitor the situation continuously and position mobile patrolling units. He also directed officials to ensure an adequate drinking water supply during the summer. He told them to resolve water-related issues without delay and to deploy water tankers where needed. He asked DMs to hold regular meetings to address local water issues. As the monsoon season approaches, he instructed them to take preventive measures and to review the progress of flood protection works. He asked them to implement necessary steps in areas vulnerable to waterlogging. He also directed DMs to conduct public hearings regularly and to expand access to government schemes through events such as Tehsil Diwas, BDC meetings, and multipurpose camps. He instructed officials to reduce the public’s need to visit government offices and to increase the use of e-services. He told them to take action against staff who cause unnecessary delays. He directed officials to resolve electricity billing complaints quickly and to speed up the installation of smart meters. The CM instructed officials to monitor suspicious activities and individuals entering from outside the state. He asked them to take regular action against illegal encroachments. He ordered strict action against personnel who issue Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, electricity or water connections to ineligible individuals. He directed officials to suspend such personnel immediately and begin termination proceedings, calling it a matter of State security. He instructed both divisional commissioners to conduct field inspections and to submit progress reports to the Chief Minister’s Office before the next review meeting.
