PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made seven major announcements including development of three new special industrial parks and the State’s first youth commission on the occasion of Independence Day here on Saturday. Addressing the citizens after hoisting the national flag on Parade Ground, Dhami announced that special industrial parks will be developed in Chamoli, Pauri and Almora while the State’s first youth commission will also be established. Additional assistance and encouragement will be provided to youth, ex-servicemen and Agniveers of border villages for self employment and entrepreneurship. The time limit for regularisation of class 3 and class 4 lands will be extended and ownership rights will be accorded. He further announced that the State’s share in PM Awas Yojana will be raised from Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000. The Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarozgar Evam Udyamita Protsahan Yojana will be started for youths aged between 18 and 30 years. Free entrepreneurship and skill development training will be provided with the help of institutions like IIT and IIM along with 30 per cent of bank loan as grant for setting up an enterprise. Dhami also announced that Bal Virta Puraskar will be awarded to brave children of Uttarakhand from this year. Expressing empathy for the families affected by recent natural disasters in various parts of the State, the CM said that the State government stands with each affected family. The government’s priority is to ensure swift relief for the affected, better treatment of the injured and necessary assistance to those who have lost their homes and livelihood. He said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the nation is progressing swiftly in the spheres of semiconductors, space, defence production, artificial intelligence, science, research, startups, sports, Yoga and Ayurveda, among others. Referring to measures taken for welfare of soldiers, ex-servicemen and their families in Uttarakhand, Dhami said that the ex-gratia for families of martyrs has been increased from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh while that to the families of Param Vir Chakra awardees has been raised from Rs 50 lakh to Rs two crore. One member from every martyr’s family is being provided government job while serving and ex-servicemen are being provided 25 per cent rebate on stamp duty on purchase of property costing upto Rs 25 lakh. He further said that the government has set a target for a developed Uttarakhand by 2035. Special focus is being laid on expansion of road, rail and ropeway connectivity. He said that the Char Dham Yatra footfalls have crossed 47 lakh with more than four crore visiting the State during the Kanwad Mela this year. He expressed hope that a new record will be set during the Kumbh to be held in Haridwar next year. The CM also spoke in detail about the various ongoing and planned developmental efforts of the government on the occasion.
