PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun The ongoing crackdown on corruption in Uttarakhand is not a personal achievement but a result of public trust, honesty and the expectations of the youth. The government has adopted a policy of zero tolerance towards corruption and is using technology to ensure transparency. Measures such as online transfer processes, examination monitoring systems, the CM Helpline 1905 for public grievances and the 1064 helpline for corruption-related complaints have been put in place to support this effort. This was stated by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in an event organised by Bhrashtachar Mukt Pradeshik Janjagran Manch along with about 100 social and religious organisations to honour Dhami for his ongoing campaign against corruption in Dehradun on Sunday. Addressing the gathering, Dhami credited the public for the early success of the anti-corruption campaign and stated that the fight will continue until corruption is fully eradicated from the state. He appealed to citizens to inform the police if they suspect or witness any illegal activities. He also warned those hiding behind false identities to revert to their original form or face strict legal action, referring to the State’s Operation Kalnemi initiative targeting such individuals. He also outlined several measures taken by the government to tackle corruption, including the implementation of a strict anti-cheating law that has brought transparency to the recruitment process. As a result, more than 24,000 government jobs have been filled without controversy and over 100 individuals involved in exam-related fraud have been jailed, he said. Dhami stated that the State government has taken action against corrupt individuals across all ranks, including IAS and IFS officers, engineers and bureaucrats. He addressed the perception that only low-level offenders are punished by highlighting that those in higher positions have also faced consequences. He stated that more than 200 people involved in corruption have been sent to jail in the past three years. He said that these decisions were not easy but the support of the public and guidance from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi enabled the government to introduce a new work culture in the State. He reiterated that the credit for the campaign’s progress goes to the people of Uttarakhand, who have repeatedly given the government opportunities to serve. The CM also referred to the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code in Uttarakhand, calling it a significant milestone. He stated that the government is taking action against unlawful religious encroachments and has freed over 6,000 acres of land. Swami Chidanand Saraswati of Parmarth Niketan also praised Dhami’s work, stating that his policies are setting an example for other states. He stated that Dhami’s steps on UCC, anti-conversion laws and exam reforms are now being followed in other States too.
