Almora, 19 Jan: The District Legal Services Authority, Almora, has become a support for the needy people and is fulfilling many social concerns.
Under the leadership of Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Almora, Shachi Sharma, an eight-day awareness campaign was organised on the occasion of “National Youth Day Vivekananda Jayanti”.
On this occasion, a legal awareness camp was organised by Adhikar Mitra Deepak Kumar in collaboration with Red Cross Society at Swami Vivekanand Charitable Hospital Petsal, Almora. Dinner sets and blankets were distributed to 12 needy villagers present.
Adhikar Mitra provided information on the NCB’s “Say Yes to Life, Say No to Drugs” e-pledge initiative, various NALSA schemes, free legal aid, cybercrimes, mental health, gender equality and women’s safety, Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006, side effects of drug abuse and prevention, NGOs, education and the law, fundamental duties and rights of citizens, the National Toll-Free Drug De-addiction Helpline number: 14446, the Manas Helpline number 1933, and the NALSA Helpline number 15100 etc. Pamphlets were also distributed. The staff of Swami Vivekananda Hospital played a significant role in organising the camp.
Legal awareness camps, street plays, and awareness rallies were also organised by the Adhikar Mitras of the District Legal Services Authority, Almora, in other areas of the district also.
