Dehradun, 28 Dec: In the continued drive against unauthorised religious structures, the Dehradun administration demolished another illegal mazaar in the state capital late last night. The action followed a fortnight-long notice period during which the administration had directed parties concerned to produce legal documentation regarding the structure’s construction on government land.
Acting on the orders of District Magistrate, Dehradun, the enforcement team targeted an illegally constructed mazaar situated along the roadside in Shastri Nagar in Ajabpur Kalan area. The demolition drive was led by City Magistrate Pratyush Singh and SDM Hari Giri. Under their leadership, a municipal corporation team deployed bulldozers to raze the structure and promptly cleared the debris. Significantly, the officials confirmed that no human remains or relics of any kind were found beneath the structure during the excavation.

Administrative authorities stated that the demolition was executed only after a formal notice remained unanswered. SSP Ajai Singh confirmed that the area was cordoned off prior to the operation to ensure public order. The entire process lasted approximately one hour and was completed without any local resistance or any law and order incident.
It may be recalled that, till date, the government led by CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has removed 571 such illegal mazaars that were built by encroaching upon government property. The CM has repeatedly issued stern warnings, asserting that all unauthorised structures on public land will be dismantled. He has repeatedly advised the persons concerned to remove such encroachments voluntarily while making it clear the practice of occupying land under the guise of religious symbols will not be permitted in Uttarakhand.
