DEHRADUN, 4 Dec: Dehradun District Administration has intensified preparations for the proposed Rispana–Bindal Elevated Road project, which are aimed at easing the increasing traffic congestion and improving connectivity in Dehradun. In this regard, District Magistrate Savin Bansal chaired a review meeting at the district collectorate on Thursday, discussing the progress regarding the elevated road projects and the Asharodi–Jhajra project on NH-7. Bansal directed the officials of all related departments to complete every procedure within the stipulated timeframe and accelerate the pace of work.
The DM said the Rispana–Bindal Elevated Road project is among the Chief Minister’s priority schemes. He instructed the Municipal Corporation (Doon Nagar Nigam) and the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) to promptly provide the records of their respective landholdings proposed for the project. He asked the Elevated Corridor Survey Committee to prepare a comprehensive department-wise account of the affected land. Officials of the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Revenue Department were directed to remain stationed on-site and prepare a complete record, in the prescribed format, of people illegally encroaching upon and residing on government land identified for the project. He ordered that once the department-wise land records are finalised, the preliminary notification for land acquisition under Section 11 should be issued without delay, and the process of rehabilitation and resettlement should be initiated.
During discussions on the NH-7 Asharodi–Jhajra project, concerns were raised regarding resistance from villagers in East Hope Town and Arcadia Grant, as well as the pending compensation for structures situated on Forest Department land. The DM directed the NHAI officials to conduct a joint site inspection with the SDM Sadar and SDM Vikas Nagar and resolve the matter at the earliest. He further instructed that, with the cooperation of the police and in coordination with the SDMs concerned, swift action be taken to carry out road improvement works and remove illegal encroachments and unauthorised possessions along the Dehradun–Haridwar Road.

The officials informed that the alignment for the project has been prepared and forwarded to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and further action will proceed upon its approval.
