Dehradun, 2 Mar: District Magistrate Savin Bansal presided over the public hearing programme held at the Collectorate Auditorium here today and directed time-bound and effective redressal of public complaints.
As many as 92 complaints relating to land disputes, demarcation of private land, illegal encroachments, family disputes, financial assistance, fee waiver and medical treatment were submitted to the DM. Taking each grievance seriously, the DM issued strict instructions to departmental officers concerned to ensure qualitative and result-oriented disposal within the stipulated timeframe.
An 80-year-old resident of HDC Colony, LN Nautiyal, informed Bansal that poor-quality sewer, road and drainage construction in his locality had led to collapse of sewer chambers, damaged roads and waterlogging during the rainy season, causing severe inconvenience to residents. Despite raising the matter at several levels, no action had been taken. Treating the matter with urgency, Bansal sought an explanation from the Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD). Finding the officer absent from the public hearing, the DM directed that one day’s salary be withheld and instructed the ADM to conduct an inquiry and ensure early resolution in coordination with the departments concerned.
A senior couple from Mothrowala complained that Sunil Kumar and his wife Sudha, residing in their house, were refusing to vacate the premises despite a court order and were allegedly subjecting them to physical and mental harassment. The DM directed SDM Sadar to take immediate action and submit an Action Taken Report on priority.
An elderly woman from Rajiv Nagar, Manju Devi, alleged that her son and daughter-in-law were attempting to dispossess her from her property and were threatening her. The DM directed officials to register a case under the Maintenance and Welfare Act and ensure appropriate legal proceedings.
Similarly, Seema Uniyal, a helpless elderly widow from Ajabpur Kalan, accused her brother-in-law and his sons of assault and attempts to grab her property. Bansal directed the Tehsildar to conduct a spot inspection and ensure justice at the earliest.
Meena Kshetri from Doiwala complained that her son was misbehaving with her and threatening her life after she was dispossessed of property. Taking serious note of the plight of the elderly woman, the DM asked the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to register a case under the Senior Citizen Act and ensure necessary legal action. Displaying humane concern, the DM also arranged a Sarathi vehicle to safely escort her home.
Mohammed Yasin from Lakhibagh requested waiver of his son’s school fees citing financial hardship. The DM directed the District Education Officer to coordinate with the school and provide relief as per rules so that the child’s education does not suffer due to economic constraints.
Bala Devi, an elderly resident of Tiparpur Pargana, alleged illegal attempts to encroach upon her private land. The District Magistrate directed the Tehsildar to conduct a fair spot inspection and ensure swift disposal.
Narendra Nath from Mothrowala sought financial assistance for treatment of his son injured in a road accident and stated that his Ayushman card was not functioning. The District Magistrate directed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to immediately verify the status of the Ayushman card and submit a report the same day.
The Mohkampur Jan Kalyan Samiti highlighted the deplorable condition of roads in Mohkampur-Lower Natthanpur and Nehru Gram, leaning electric poles, hanging wires, filth beneath the flyover and encroachments. The DM directed the Executive Engineer, PWD, to conduct a detailed inspection and submit a comprehensive report by March 10, along with corrective action.
Chandreshwar Mahadev Temple and Area Development Committee, along with local residents, complained about alleged fencing and encroachment on government land in Kedarpuram Colony at Chak Danda Lakhond, Link Road Sahastradhara Road area. The DM directed SDM Sadar to examine revenue records, conduct a spot inspection and submit a clear report by 15 March.
Taking note of the demand to commence Smart City or electric bus services from Dehradun to Doiwala, Bhaniyawala, Rani Pokhri and Bhogpur up to Thano, the DM sought an explanation from the Smart City management regarding the delay. A detailed report citing reasons has been sought by 17 March. He made it clear that negligence in matters concerning public convenience would not be tolerated and that all departments must adhere strictly to timelines.
The DM reiterated that cases received during the public hearing must be disposed of on priority to provide timely relief to citizens. Among those present at the public hearing were ADM (Finance and Revenue) K.K. Mishra, SDM Vinod Kumar, SDM Kumkum Joshi, SDM Apoorva Singh, SDM Aparna Dhaondiyal, Project Director Vikram Singh, District Development Officer (DDO) Sunil Kumar and other district-level officers from various departments.
