

Public hearing of grievances held, 142 complaints received in Doon

Dehradun, 24 Nov: District Magistrate Savin Bansal heard a wide range of public grievances during the public hearing held at the Rishiparna Auditorium here today. People from distant rural and urban areas submitted their complaints related to land disputes, demarcation, domestic violence, issuance of certificates, entries in family registers, financial assistance and requests for loan waivers. The DM resolved several matters on the spot and directed the departments concerned to act swiftly and in accordance with legal provisions on the pending issues. He also instructed the officials to treat public grievances with seriousness and ensure their prompt disposal.
A major case presented before the DM involved four women from the Pragati Ajeevika Self-Help Group, who alleged that a woman from another group had secured a loan of Rs 5 lakhs using their identity documents without their knowledge. The DM immediately directed that a case of financial fraud be registered. In another complaint, Sarita Devi of Selaqui alleged that land mafia were encroaching on her registered land, obstructing the access road and blocking the irrigation canal. The SDM Vikasnagar was instructed to investigate the matter and furnish a detailed report.
Pappu Kumar, a daily-wage labourer, stated that despite paying his loan instalments regularly, a bank had served him a notice to auction his property without prior intimation, causing him severe mental distress. The Lead District Manager was directed to resolve the matter urgently. In one case, Ram Ashish of Niranjanpur sought a waiver of his outstanding bank loan. In another case, residents of Maindrath village complained against the former village pradhan for allegedly misusing government property and committing irregularities in works related to the village drinking water pipeline and road. The DM instructed the Chief Development Officer (CDO) to set up an inquiry committee and take strict action.
Elderly citizen Poonam Joshi reported that her tenant had disappeared after locking the house, without paying rent or electricity and water bills for two months. The City Magistrate was directed to ensure she regained possession of her property. Abhay Arora, a 69-year-old resident of Vasant Vihar, explained that he is unwell and that both his wife and son are differently abled, and sought financial assistance, for which the SDM was asked to investigate and submit the due recommendation. A woman named Rama sought help for her daughter’s wedding. Rashmi, a widowed resident of Karanpur, citing her poor financial condition, sought financial support for her daughter’s education and her own medical needs. Renu Singh of Sahastradhara sought assistance for cancer treatment. Sushila of Brahm Puri reported that her house was washed away during heavy rainfall in August and that although she received Rs 6,500 as compensation, her family remained homeless, prompting her to request further help. An 80-year-old woman from Araghar similarly complained that her home was damaged during the monsoon and that she had no funds for repairs, and the Tehsildar was directed to conduct an inspection and ensure she received assistance. Another elderly woman, Kalawati of Badowala, also sought financial help for repairing her dilapidated home.
Poornkala Khatri, the widow of an ex-serviceman from Rajawala, complained that her name was missing from the family register, and the District Panchayat Raj Officer was directed to act on the matter. The SDM was asked to process on priority the request for a survival certificate made by Ayush Verma. Sunita of Sahaspur complained that her son’s birth certificate had not been issued, prompting directions to the District Panchayat Raj Officer to resolve the matter.
A complaint regarding the absence of boundary and land records of the Boksa Aadim Janjati Adarsh High School in revenue documents led to instructions for immediate action by the Education Officer. The SDM was directed to resolve the issue pertaining to non-payment for work on the Kharoda Sainj Kunain motor road in Chakrata. For a complaint regarding a house not being connected to the under-construction sewer line in Ward No. 20, Araghar, the Municipal Commissioner was asked to examine and resolve the matter. The Superintending Engineer, PWD, was instructed to submit a proposal concerning a request for permission for road-cutting in Dalanwala to connect a narrow lane’s sewer line with the main line. The PWD was also asked to submit a clear report on reasons for the non-construction of a 200-metre bitumen road in Lane No. 3 of Saket Colony, Ajabpur Kalan. The Municipal Commissioner was directed to take prompt action regarding illegal encroachment on Municipal Corporation land in Reetha Mandi. The SDM and Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority were instructed to act upon complaints of illegal construction and encroachment on Gram Sabha land along Sahastradhara Road.
Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) KK Mishra, SDM Smrita Parmar, SDM Apoorva Singh, SDM Kumkum Joshi, Project Director Vikram Singh, Tehsildar Surendra Singh, District Probation Officer Meena Bisht and senior officers from various departments were present during the public hearing.
