Dehradun, 9 Jan: District Magistrate Savin Bansal’s special initiative has led to the revival of the education of meritorious girls struggling against adverse circumstances and paving the way for a secure and dignified future for them. Emerging as a strong pillar of support for families facing acute financial hardship, the district administration is ensuring that a lack of resources does not extinguish the aspirations of talented daughters determined to pursue education. Under the guidance of the Chief Minister, the district administration is giving a new lease of life to the education of girls by extending timely institutional support.
In this regard, financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each has been provided from the CSR fund to Jivika Anthwal, a second-year BCom student, and Nandini Rajput, a student of Class 11. The education of both students was revived last week under Project Nanda-Sunanda, an initiative aimed at preventing disruption in the education of girls from vulnerable families.
Jivika Anthwal is determined to fulfil her dream of becoming a Chartered Accountant despite facing severe personal and financial challenges. Her father is suffering from a serious liver ailment and has been admitted to the ICU for several months, leaving the entire responsibility of the household on her mother, who is managing the family with extremely limited means. Seeking assistance for educational expenses and a laptop essential for studies, Jivika’s mother submitted an application to the District Magistrate. After reviewing the family’s condition, the district administration transferred Rs 1 lakh from the CSR fund directly into Jivika’s bank account. In addition, the process of providing a laptop from the Rifle Fund is also being undertaken to ensure that her studies continue without interruption.
Nandini Rajput, a Class 11 student, aspires to clear the NEET examination and become a doctor. Her father passed away in 2018, and her mother works as an Aanganwadi worker while also doing part-time tailoring to support the family. Nandini has two sisters who are studying in Classes 12 and 6. Considering the family’s financial constraints and Nandini’s academic aspirations, the district administration has extended Rs 1 lakh as assistance from the CSR fund into her bank account so that her education does not suffer due to lack of resources and she can continue her preparation for higher studies with confidence.
District Magistrate Savin Bansal expressed hope that the financial assistance provided would be utilised solely for educational purposes. He stated that the objective of utilising CSR funds received from various sources is always to ensure welfare of deserving and needy persons. He also appreciated and thanked the SDM Judicial, the District Programme Officer, the District Probation Officer and their team for identifying eligible beneficiaries with sensitivity and diligence. He said that keeping the education of meritorious girls from families facing difficult circumstances alive remains one of the highest priorities of the district administration.
Addressing the students, the DM urged them to maintain their courage and self-confidence, to never allow the ‘spark’ of education to fade, and to move forward continuously towards achieving their goals with determination. He assured them that the administration would continue to stand by talented students who are willing to work hard despite hardships.
Among those present on the occasion included SDM Judicial Kumkum Joshi, District Programme Officer Child Development Jitendra Kumar, District Probation Officer Meena Bisht, and the parents of the students.
