Dehradun, 20 Jan: To commemorate the completion of one year since the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand, 27 January 2026 will be celebrated as ‘Uniform Civil Code Day’. A grand state-level programme will be held at the Culture Department Auditorium in Nimbuwala, here on 27 January which will be graced by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami as the chief guest.
In preparation for UCC Day, Chief Development Officer (CDO) of Dehradun district, Abhinav Shah conducted a virtual review meeting today with nodal officers from various departments. During the meeting, he directed the officials concerned to ensure that all the arrangements for the event are completed in a time-bound, well-organised, and dignified manner.
It was stressed that the event will serve as a platform to honour the officers, the employees and the distinguished citizens who have demonstrated excellence in their work at the state level. Additionally, an on-the-spot quiz competition will also be organised to make the programme more engaging and participatory for the audience.
CDO Abhinav Shah instructed the Joint Director of Higher Education to ensure the participation of law students from various universities in the event. Similarly, the Education Officer was directed to organise essay writing, debating, and painting competitions in schools themed around UCC Day, and to make proper arrangements for transporting the winning students to the venue.
Furthermore, prominent office-bearers of the Bar Council and local Bar Associations will also be invited to attend the proceedings.
The Public Works Department (PWD) has been asked to ensure proper arrangements for the stage, the hall, the sound system, LED screens and tentage. The SP has been asked to maintain robust security, traffic management, and vehicle parking arrangements. Meanwhile, the Project Director was instructed to ensure the timely distribution of invitation letters to the guests.
To ensure the successful execution of the programme, essential instructions regarding light refreshments, drinking water, electricity, transport, and health services have been issued to the respective nodal officers.
This state-level celebration of Uniform Civil Code Day (UCC Day) is being touted as a significant step towards communicating Uttarakhand’s historic initiative to the general public and strengthening the message of social harmony.
