Dehradun, 11 Jan: It is a matter of great pride for the Secondary Education Department of Uttarakhand that Dr Bhagwati Prasad Maindoli, Staff Officer at the State Project Office, Samagra Shiksha Uttarakhand, has been awarded the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree at the 12th Convocation Ceremony of Lovely Professional University (LPU), Phagwara, Punjab.
The convocation ceremony, held at the university campus, witnessed Dr Maindoli being conferred the doctoral degree by Mary Elizabeth Truss, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Also present was Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal, Founder and Chancellor of Lovely Professional University and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), along with his spouse, and Rashmi Mittal, Vice Chancellor of LPU.

Dr Bhagwati Prasad Maindoli successfully completed his doctoral research in 2025 under the guidance of Professor Vijay Kumar Chhachhi, Deputy Dean, LPU, on the topic:
“A Comparative Study of Competencies Developed among Teachers and Students in Schools Adopting the Happiness Curriculum in Uttarakhand.”
This research is considered highly significant for the school education system of Uttarakhand. Its findings not only contribute to strengthening teachers’ pedagogical competencies but also promote students’ social-emotional development, life skills, self-discipline, and positive behaviour.
Currently serving as a Staff Officer at the State Project Office, Samagra Shiksha Uttarakhand, Dr Maindoli is also performing the role of Nodal Officer for the ‘Anandam Curriculum’ (Happiness Curriculum) in the state. His extensive research experience and academic insight are expected to provide new direction to the effective implementation, continuous monitoring, and quality enhancement of the Happiness Curriculum in government schools. His research, which places the humanistic dimension of education at its core, is poised to become a strong foundation for a value-based and joyful education system.
Achieving a Ph.D.—the highest academic qualification—at the age of approximately 58, close to retirement, stands as a living example of Dr Maindoli’s lifelong commitment to learning, discipline, and dedication to education. Earlier, he secured the position of University Topper in M.Sc. (Botany) from Government Postgraduate College, Gopeshwar. His academic credentials also include B.Ed., M.A. (Education), and M.A. (Social Work), reflecting his multidimensional academic profile.
His family is also actively engaged in social and public life. His son, Vipul Maindoli, is currently serving as the State President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Uttarakhand, discharging significant organisational and social responsibilities.
This remarkable achievement of Dr Bhagwati Prasad Maindoli is a source of inspiration not only for his family but also for the entire Education Department of Uttarakhand and society at large. Officers, teachers, and staff of the Education Department have extended their heartfelt congratulations on this historic accomplishment.
