Education Minister Dr DS Rawat conducts surprise inspection of DIET Bhimtal

Haldwani/Dehradun, 20 Feb: School Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat conducted a surprise inspection of the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Bhimtal during his one-day visit to the Kumaon division today. He reviewed the academic and administrative arrangements of the institute and held discussions with departmental officials. During his tour, Dr Rawat also inspected various schools to assess preparations for the upcoming board examinations. Additionally, he honoured outstanding teachers at a felicitation ceremony held in Haldwani.
Speaking to the media, Dr Rawat stated that during his one-day visit to Kumaon division, he inspected DIET Bhimtal and several schools, issuing necessary directions to officials. During the surprise inspection of DIET Bhimtal, he conducted a detailed review of the institute’s academic and administrative systems. He also sought information regarding training programmes, availability of resources, teacher training modules, and the overall functioning of the institution.
Dr Rawat reviewed the progress of the under-construction multipurpose building and administrative block on the DIET campus. He directed the executing agency and departmental officials to ensure that construction work is completed within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining quality standards.
Subsequently, he visited HGS School, Bhimtal, where he met students who had demonstrated excellent performance and encouraged them. He also inspected various schools in Bhimtal, Naukuchiatal, Haldwani, and Bageshwar to review preparations for the board examinations commencing Saturday. The Minister instructed officials to ensure that examinations are conducted in a fair, transparent, and well-organised manner, free from malpractice.
During his Kumaon tour, Dr Rawat attended the fourth edition of the ‘Devbhoomi Shiksha Samman,’ jointly organised by Amar Ujala and Devbhoomi Foundation in Haldwani, as the Chief Guest. On the occasion, he honoured teachers for their outstanding, innovative, and dedicated contributions to the field of education.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Rawat said that teachers are the strongest foundation of society. A teacher not only imparts knowledge but also instils values, inspiration, and a spirit of nation-building. He congratulated all the awardees and wished them a bright future.
During his visit to Naukuchiatal and Bageshwar, Dr Rawat received a warm welcome from BJP workers and local residents.
