
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun The Election Commission has started the preparations for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Uttarakhand. The State’s chief electoral officer (CEO) BVRC Purushottam held a virtual meeting with the district magistrates of Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar, Haridwar and Nainital on Tuesday. In the meeting discussions on preparations for SIR and appointment of booth level agents (BLA) were held. The CEO directed all the districts to start a special campaign to match the names of the voters in the voter list of 2003 with the present voter list for preparations for the SIR. He said that the BLOs should personally contact the voters who have shifted to other places and do their category mapping. The CEO averred that the objective of the preparations is ensure that the voters do not face any inconvenience during the SIR. In the meeting, the CEO directed the DMs to convene another meeting with the representatives of the political parties for 100 per cent appointment of BLAs. He said that the Election Commission of India has given a facility ‘ Book a call with BLO’ in the ECI-Net App for the voters with the help of which they can book a call with the BLO concerned. The meeting was also attended by joint CEO Prakash Chandra, deputy DEO Dehradun, Abhinav Shah, deputy DEO Haridwar Fincharam, deputy CEO Kishan Singh Negi, assistant CEO Mastu Das and others. The DMs of Haridwar, Dehradun, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar attended the meeting in a virtual mode.
