Thursday, 01 August 2024 | my uttarakhand news | DEHRADUN Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the contribution of animal husbandry and dairy in the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) should be increased from existing three percent to five percent in next three years. The CM reviewed the Animal husbandry, Dairy development, Fisheries and Sugarcane development departments at the Secretariat on Wednesday. He said that resources required for increasing GSDP in the field of animal husbandry and dairy development will be provided by the State government and directed the officers to prepare an action plan for the purpose. He also directed the officers for building one model veterinary hospital in every district. Dhami said special focus should be paid towards innovation along with the successful implementation of the government schemes. He said that setting up of Goat valley, Poultry valley and Broiler farm have proved helpful in increasing the income of animal breeders in the state. While reviewing the Fisheries department, the CM said that production of trout fish should be promoted in the mountainous areas. He said that the officers should ensure that the farmers get the benefit of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. Dhami said that fish ponds should be constructed in the State by forming clusters. In the meeting the CM directed the officers to ensure that the sugar mills are brought of losses. “Work should be done towards modernization of sugar mills, increasing their efficiency and capacity. It should be ensured that the sugarcane price is paid to the farmers on time,’’ he said.Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bahuguna said that a massive campaign for animal vaccination is going on in the State. He added that veterinary services are being provided at the doorstep of livestock owners through mobile veterinary units.  Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Principal Secretary RL Sudhanshu, Secretary BVRC  Purushottam, Special Secretary Parag Madhukar Dhakate and others attended the meeting.
