PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stressed that all pension cases should be resolved within the given time frame, adding that no eligible person should be left bereft of the benefit of social security schemes. He said this on Sunday while chairing a meeting in which he also transferred Rs 141.91 crore to 9.57 lakh beneficiaries as part of Social Welfare department’s pensions for the month of February. Dhami told the officials that an elaborate campaign should be conducted to raise awareness on the various pension schemes. An innovation-based work plan should be presented soon for connecting the deprived and weaker sections to these schemes. “A positive outcome has been seen from the camps held across the State under the Jan-Jan Ki Sarkar, Jan-Jan Ke Dwar programme. This has also resulted in a considerable increase in the number of pensioners. This is a proof of the government’s sensitive and dedicated working. Such special campaigns should be continued in remote and mountainous regions so that social security can be ensured for the last eligible person,” the CM said. Meanwhile, officials informed that the pension distributed digitally by the CM on Sunday includes monthly pension and arrears. The various types of monthly pensions provided included old-age pension of Rs 1,500 each to 5.93 lakh beneficiaries, Rs 1,500 each as widow pension to 2.31 lakh beneficiaries, Rs 1,500 each to 87,477 beneficiaries of handicap pension and Rs 1,200 each to 27,638 beneficiaries under the Kisan Pension Yojana, among others.
