PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun  Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the ex-servicemen of the State will be sent abroad for employment through Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited (UPNL). He said that the process of regularisation of more than 22,500 employees of UPNL is also underway.  The CM was addressing a programme organised to mark the Kargil Vijay Diwas (Shaurya Diwas) at Gandhi Park here on Saturday. In the programme, the CM paid floral tributes to the martyrs of the Kargil war. He said that the country will always remember the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect the motherland. Dhami said that during the Kargil war, the soldiers of India displayed indomitable courage, excellent strategy, and unparalleled valour and forced the enemies to kneel down. The CM said that 75 soldiers from Uttarakhand were martyred in the Kargil war.  He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the army is being equipped with the most modern technology and weapons and the morale of the soldiers is very high.  Dhami said that in the Operation Sindoor our armed forces brought Pakistan to its knees in just four. “Now our army answers the enemy’s bullets with bullets. This is the new India which gives a befitting reply to every evil act of the enemies,’’ he said.  The CM added that under the leadership of the PM, many decisions such as One Rank-One Pension scheme, construction of National War Memorial, increase in defence budget and strengthening of infrastructure on the border have been made. He said that the State government has increased the ex-gratia amount given to the dependents of the martyrs from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh, and has also increased the one-time and annual amount given to soldiers decorated with all gallantry awards. The ex-gratia amount of PVC recipients has increased from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore.  The CM said that one member of the family of the martyrs is being given a government job and the period for applying for this has also been increased from two years to five years. Free transportation facility is provided to the gallantry award winners in the buses of State Transport Corporation.  He said that a 25 per cent discount in stamp duty is also being provided on purchase of property up for serving and ex-servicemen. In the programme, the CM announced the construction of ECHS and Sainik rest house in Kaleshwar of Chamoli district and Sainik rest house in Nainital. Cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi said that 1,831 soldiers belonging to Uttarakhand have been martyred till date and out of which 1,528 soldiers have received gallantry awards.  Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, MLAs Khajan Das and Savita Kapoor, secretary  Dipendra Chaudhary, major general (retd) Sammy Sabarwal, Sainik Welfare director brigadier (retd) Amrit Lal, UPNL MD brigadier (retd) JS Bisht and others attended the programme.
