Dehradun, 27 Feb: The Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities at Tula’s Institute, Dehradun, celebrated National Science Day with great enthusiasm by organising a special expert session at Tula’s Auditorium.The keynote address was delivered by Prasun Kumar Gupta, Scientist/Engineer-SF, Geoinformatics Department at Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Dehradun. An eminent expert in AI/ML, Open-Source GIS and Modelling, Gupta shared valuable insights on emerging technologies, space applications, and the growing importance of geospatial sciences in nation-building.Present were Director Dr Shailendra Tiwary, Additional Director Dr Nishant Saxena, Registrar Dr Vijay Kumar Upadhyay, and Mukesh Pathela, Head of the Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities. They highlighted the significance of developing scientific temperament, promoting innovation, and encouraging research-driven learning among students.Addressing the first-year students, Gupta motivated them to actively participate in various programmes, workshops, and initiatives organised by IIRS and ISRO. He also encouraged students to visit the IIRS laboratories to gain practical exposure and enhance their understanding of advanced research and space technologies.The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members. An interactive discussion followed, during which students received guidance on career opportunities in space research, artificial intelligence, and geoinformatics.The programme was coordinated by Dr Sugam Gupta, Shaista Hasan, and Tanuja Uniyal.
