Dehradun, 13 Mar: Syed Ali Naqvi, Program Manager of Plan India/Reckitt, met Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) at the Lok Bhavan, here, today. During the courtesy meeting, Naqvi presented the Governor with the “Dettol Banega Swasth India Impact Study Report – 2025”.
On this occasion, Naqvi informed him that with the support of Reckitt, the organisation is running an awareness campaign in schools under the Dettol School Hygiene Education Program. Through this initiative, children are being educated about hygiene, the habit of regular handwashing, and adopting a healthy lifestyle. Students are being encouraged to practice personal hygiene, maintain a clean school environment, and adopt behaviours that help prevent diseases.
The Governor appreciated the initiative and said that cleanliness is not just a habit but an important foundation for building a healthy society. He stated that, if awareness about hygiene and health is developed among children from an early age, it has a positive impact on the entire society.
The Governor suggested that the awareness campaign should also be extended to Anganwadi centres so that along with young children, their mothers and guardians can also be made aware about hygiene. He recommended that training and awareness programs be organised in five Anganwadi centres in the initial phase.
Additionally, the Governor suggested organising a special cleanliness awareness session in the Lok Bhavan Colony, which would inspire residents and staff there to understand the importance of hygiene.
The Governor expressed confidence that such awareness programs will play an important role in developing positive hygiene behaviour in society and encourage people to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
