Dehradun, 24 Dec: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) today fondly remembered former Prime Minister of India and Bharat Ratna awardee, the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on the occasion of his birth anniversary, which falls on 25 December, and extended his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Good Governance Day.
In his message issued on the eve of the occasion, the Governor said that the entire life of the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee was dedicated to sacrifice, commitment, and service to the nation. He described him as an eloquent orator, a sensitive poet, a visionary statesman, and an able administrator. His thoughts, values, and leadership style will always remain a source of inspiration for Indian democracy.
The Governor said that observing Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth anniversary as Good Governance Day provides an opportunity to remember his ideals and administrative vision. He emphasised that good governance is the cornerstone of the all-round development of any nation, ensuring transparency, accountability, sensitivity, and effective administration.
