Dehradun, 6 Feb: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) on Friday participated in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Pariksha Pe Charcha–2026” programme at Oasis School, Raipur, here.
On this occasion, addressing the students, the Governor said that “Pariksha Pe Charcha” not only resolves the doubts of students but also inspires parents and teachers to adopt a positive outlook. He advised students not to consider examinations as a burden, but rather as an opportunity to assess their knowledge and abilities. He emphasised that competition should not be with others, but with oneself to become better each day.

The Governor stated that achieving any goal is not possible merely by dreaming, but requires a clear objective, strong determination, discipline, and continuous effort. He said that linking willpower with consistent action is the key to success. Examinations, he added, are not just a means of obtaining marks, but an opportunity to develop the ability to think, understand, and take the right decisions. Understanding the question properly is essential, because only when a question is clear can the answer be correct and meaningful.
He urged students to step out of their comfort zones and accept challenges, stating that self-confidence is built through hard work.
Describing action and duty as the foundation of life, the Governor said that every action inevitably yields a result. He reiterated that the real competition in life is not with others, but with oneself to improve every day. Such thinking, he said, helps in shaping responsible citizens and ensures their contribution to nation-building.
Secretary to the Governor Ravinath Raman, Director, SCERT, Vandana Garbyal, School Chairman Rakesh Oberoi, Director Raghav Oberoi, Principal Sanjeev Batla, and students of the school were present at the programme.
