PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Bharadisain The Budget session of Uttarakhand assembly started in Dehradun on Monday with the address of the Governor Lieutenant General ( retd) Gurmit Singh. In his address, the governor emphatically stated that the State government is making serious efforts in the direction of Viksit Uttarakhand @2047 on the lines of Viksit Bharat @ 2047 by making efforts to increase resources, encouraging reverse migration, promoting innovation in technology and infrastructure development. He said that the government is ensuring participation of women, youth, farmers and entrepreneurs in this endeavour. Highlighting the achievements of the State government, the governor said that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) has been effectively implemented in the State from January 27, 2025 and under it nine services are being provided through online medium on which a total of 5.27 lakh applications have been received and more than 99 per cent have been disposed of so far. Under the ‘Jan Jan Ki Sarkar Jan Jan Ke Dwar’ campaign more than 660 camps were organised in about 51,000 applications were received with more than 37,000 of them disposed of. The governor said that more than 1.87 lakh people were linked with self-employment opportunities through various schemes of the State government. In an endeavour towards women empowerment, the government has taken an initiative of making Lakhpati Didis and under the scheme more than 2.25 lakhpati Didis have been made so far. The government has started winter Char Dham Yatra to promote religious tourism during the winter season. Till January, more than 44,000 pilgrims have visited the State for paying obeisance at the winter abodes of Char Dhams. Under the Vocal for Local and Local to Global concept, 22 trademarks have been registered under the House of Himalayas scheme. He said that the State government is encouraging the investors to invest in Uttarakhand and for this more than 30 policies have been formulated. Under the Vibrant Village scheme, live goats, sheep and poultry are being supplied to Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). The government has increased the compensation amount in the cases of human wildlife conflict from existing Rs six lakhs to Rs 10 lakhs. Asia’s first Snow Leopard Centre has been established under the Uttarkashi forest division. Vehicle location tracking devices are being installed in the vehicles for their real time monitoring. The governor said that the State government is preparing a Wedding destination policy and has also issued comprehensive guidelines for this. The State government has also earmarked three new Spiritual Economic Zones at Bel Kedar ( Rudraprayag) , Anjanisain ( Tehri) and Lohaghat and Shyamala Tal area ( Champawat). The State government is also promoting high altitude tourism and a High Altitude Ultra Marathon was organised at Adi Kailash under this endeavour. The governor said that the State government is working on the ambitious Sharda Corridor project and Banbasa Land port project. He said that the State government is committed to organise a divine and mega Kumbh 2027 in Haridwar.
