Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Dhami said that those who have been appointed in the Forest department have the very important responsibility of protecting the State’s forest areas. Those appointed in the Technical Education department also have the task to enhance the official work with advanced technology. Dhami said that the government’s efforts to maximise employment opportunities for the State’s youths are slowly achieving results on the ground. He said, “To resolve the complaints of irregularities in the recruitment process during the past governments, we have made considerable changes in the process. Under the past governments, the process from release of the advertisement to providing the appointment letter used to take a long time. The corrupt used to exploit this delay and thrive on bribes. However, our government has now made the recruitment process completely transparent and the process is being completed within a set time frame. This is yielding good results and now every youth has started getting equal opportunities,” Dhami said. Telling the appointed youths that they had been selected out of thousands of applicants for this special work, he exhorted them to set standards in their work place. “You should set a target of discharging your duties with discipline and honesty while also connecting with new technology,” he said. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Forest and Technical Education minister Subodh Uniyal said that 71 per cent of the State’s geographical area is under forest cover. Calling the forest guards frontline workers, the minister said that their responsibilities will include protecting the forests, mitigating human-wildlife conflict and preventing forest fires.
