my uttarakhand news | DEHRADUN  Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that Indian traditional sports are now being viewed with respect in the world and they are receiving global recognition. He said India is making efforts to include Kabaddi, Kho -Kho and Yoga in the Olympics . The Indian government is also making an effort to host the Olympics in the year 2036. The CM was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Malkhamb completion in the National Games at Chakarpur in Khatima on Tuesday. He said that the National Games are being hosted by Uttarakhand this year with an objective of establishing the State as Khel Bhoomi. The CM said that the National Games are not only giving an opportunity to our sportsperson to showcase their talent but has also resulted in development of sports infrastructure in the State.  He said that the sports stadium in Chakarpur is constructed with a cost of Rs 16 crore and it is equipped with world class facilities. Dhami expressed happiness at the success of the players of the State in the National Games. He said that so far the players of the State have won 81 medals including 19 gold in the tournament which is the best performance of the State.  In the programme, the CM felicitated the boxing gold medal winner Kapil Pokhariya, Vivek Pandey (weightlifting bronze medal winner) and Aman Joshi (silver medallist in the Beach handball). He said that in the 38th National Games being hosted by the State, Yoga and Malkhamb events are included for the first time. The CM said that Malkhanb is not only a sport but it is an excellent amalgam of physical excellence, concentration, balance and self-discipline.  He said that the State government will continue to promote the traditional sports in Uttarakhand.  The Mayor of Rudrapur Vikas Sharma, chairperson of municipal council of Khatima Kamal Jindal and officers of the district administration and police attended the programme.
