PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Haridwar Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that Kumbh Mela- 2027 to be held in Haridwar next year will be grand, divine and historic. Chairing a high-level meeting on Kumbh Mela in Haridwar on Saturday, the CM said that providing better facilities, ensuring smooth movement and safety for devotees during the Mela is the government’s highest priority. Dhami also laid the foundation for 34 development works amounting to Rs 234.55 crore for the Kumbh Mela. Dhami directed officials to complete all works related to the Kumbh Mela within the stipulated time-frame. Dhami instructed all the departments to work in coordination and ensure immediate compliance with the decisions taken. In the meeting, the CM conducted a detailed review of the preparations and sought information on the action taken on directions issued in the previous meeting and the progress of ongoing works. He directed that all works related to the Mela be completed by the month of October. The CM informed that approvals for all major permanent works have been granted. He said that the proposals for temporary works should be finalized and completed in a time-bound manner. Stressing on effective and adequate arrangements for transport and parking during the Mela, the CM said that alternative routes should also be identified. He emphasized making proper arrangements for safe and convenient movement and bathing facilities for devotees. The CM said that considering the potential crowd, a comprehensive plan should be prepared for bathing and accommodation. Special arrangements should also be made for women and elderly devotees. Emphasising on maintaining cleanliness in the Kumbh area, he said that support from voluntary organisations should also be taken. He instructed that better healthcare facilities be ensured and arrangements be made for boat and bike ambulances to transport sick devotees to the nearest health centres. The CM said that cooperation from saints, Akharas, public representatives, religious organisations and voluntary groups should be sought for the systematic and successful organization of the Kumbh Mela. Dhami said that adequate arrangements should be ensured during the Kumbh Mela. In the review, the CM directed that safety audits of all bridges constructed in the Kumbh area be conducted and repairs completed on time if required. For maintenance of Ghats along the Ganga River, coordination should be established with officials of Uttar Pradesh for the closure of the Gang canal if needed, he added. The CM also directed proper land management and allotment arrangements in the Kumbh area, stating that the Mela Officer should personally monitor the process and ensure the area remains free from encroachments. Cabinet ministers Satpal Maharaj and Subodh Uniyal, Haridwar MP Trivendra Singh Rawat also participated in the meeting.
