PIONEER  EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Haldwani Ahead of the Supreme Court hearing on Vanbulpura railway land encroachment on December 2, the police detained 21 persons. The police acted against a total of 121 persons as partt of preemptive action. On the directions of the Nainital senior superintendent of police Manjunath TC, the district police undertook a drive during which 21 persons were detained. Most of these were earlier involved in rioting in the Vanbhulpura area. The SSP said that no person will be allowed to violate the law. Those who instigated others to riot or were involved in the violence will not be spared. The police are identifying such persons and taking them into custody, he said. It is pertinent to mention here that about 5,000 families are likely to be affected by the court verdict in the Vanbhulpura railway land encroachment case.
