Dehradun, 6 Feb: In honour of the 100 years of dedicated and exemplary service by the Military Nursing Service (MNS), Military Hospital Dehradun actively participated in the nationwide historic initiative, “Hand Sanitisation Exercise PAN AFMS 2026,” held on 5 February.
As part of this all-India campaign, 714 Armed Forces personnel from Military Hospital Dehradun took part, contributing significantly to this landmark effort. The initiative highlighted the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) core values of precision, unity and professionalism. The event was conducted under the overall coordination of Colonel AW Kashif, Senior Registrar, and organised by nodal officer Lieutenant Colonel Inam Danish Khan and Nursing Officer Lieutenant Colonel Arpana of MH Dehradun. The initiative commemorates the centennial journey of the Military Nursing Service, underscoring its central role in clinical excellence, discipline, and compassionate care over the past century. Through this event the Military Hospital Dehradun extended a strong public health message, reminding everyone that hand hygiene is one of the simplest and most effective ways to prevent infections—whether in healthcare settings or in the community.
The exercise also served as a centenary celebration for the military nursing community, honouring its proud legacy while strengthening awareness, readiness, and excellence in healthcare delivery.
Armed Forces personnel across the country, under the leadership of AFMS, collectively followed six standardised hand hygiene procedures in a coordinated exercise. This unprecedented effort is set to be recognised in both the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records, while also demonstrating the Armed Forces’ commitment to infection control, patient safety, and public health preparedness.
Surgeon Vice Admiral Aarti Sarin, senior officials of the Armed Forces Medical Services, faculty members, nursing officers, other personnel, and medical and nursing cadets from the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) attended the event in Delhi.
