Dehradun, 9 Dec: On the second day of the seven-day Swadeshi Festival and Uttarakhand Development Exhibition today organised by Smriti Vikas Sansthan at the Parade Ground, an Entrepreneurship Students’ Conference was held. On this occasion, Chief Guest Cabinet Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat urged the youth to build strong brands of hill products.
The minister said that youth should also practice organic farming in villages. He added that, along with studies, students must actively participate in the Swadeshi movement. He stated that after inspecting the stalls at the Swadeshi Festival, he was pleased to see the enthusiasm of the people. Many stall owners participate every year. This exhibition will continue from 8 to 14 December.
On the second day, stalls showcasing Swadeshi and hill products—set up to promote the “Vocal for Local” initiative—remained the main attraction.
The festival includes stalls displaying government development works, indigenous products of small entrepreneurs, hill products, and information about various state government schemes. Local artists have also been provided a platform. On the second day of the exhibition, the presentation on the Nanda Devi Raj Jaat Yatra left everyone emotional. In the evening, Tark Da Band mesmerised the audience with their Sufi musical performance during the cultural night.
Smriti Vikas Sansthan Secretary Aadhar Verma said that this festival, being organised during Uttarakhand’s Silver Jubilee year, aims to bring the state’s culture, tourism, indigenous entrepreneurship, rural development, and women empowerment on one platform.
He also stated that on 10 December, a Women’s Conference will be addressed by Chief Guest Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya, followed by the Youth Conference with Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal as the Chief Guest.
