Mussoorie, 6 Jan: Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi held a review meeting at the Mussoorie Municipal Hall on Monday to assess ongoing and proposed development works in the hill town. Officials from the Drinking Water Corporation, Jal Sansthan, Public Works Department (PWD), Electricity Department, Forest Department, Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA), and National Highways attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the minister reviewed the progress of various development projects and directed all departments to complete their work on time. He gave strict instructions to the Drinking Water Corporation and Jal Sansthan to resolve Mussoorie’s drinking water problem within 15 days, stressing the need for better coordination among departments.
Officials informed the minister that work on the Biladu, Dhobi Ghat, and Company Garden STP lines is almost complete and will become operational by February. The Camelback STP plant is expected to be completed by July.
The minister instructed the Electricity Department to replace old electric poles and complete underground cabling at the earliest. He also directed the Public Works Department to immediately repair damaged roads.
Reviewing the proposal for a new bridge near Valley Bridge on the Dehradun–Mussoorie road, the minister asked officials to complete all formalities quickly and begin construction work soon. He also reviewed development works at Bhadraj Temple, Buranskhanda, Suwakholi, and the progress of the Kimadi motor road.
Forest Department officials were directed to speed up lopping work and address wildlife-related issues in the George Everest area. The minister also instructed MDDA officials to improve and beautify Mussoorie’s Mall Road and Landour Bazaar.
Ganesh Joshi said that Mussoorie receives a large number of tourists from India and abroad every year, making it essential to complete all development works on time to avoid inconvenience to visitors. Suggestions from public representatives and local intellectuals were also taken during the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Municipal Council Chairperson Meera Saklani, Mandal President Rajat Aggarwal, former Mandal President Rakesh Rawat, SDM Mussoorie Rahul Anand, DFO Mussoorie Range Amit Kanwar, along with other officials and public representatives.
