Dehradun, 10 Feb: BJP has again demanded that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami immediately cancel the land allotment to a minority educational institution in Dhaulas village near IMA campus in Dehradun and has cited grave concerns for military security. In a meeting with the CM, senior MLA and state party spokesperson Vinod Chamoli sought an assurance from the CM for prompt action in the case. The CM assured Chamoli of appropriate prompt action in the matter. Later the party claimed that both the BJP and the government have vowed not to permit such violations.
Briefing journalists at party headquarters on the discussions, Vinod Chamoli accused the Congress of relentlessly trying to sully the sanctity of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand in pursuit of its vote-bank greed. He described the latest revelation as just one instance of such machinations. He also alleged that the plan was to set up a Muslim University at that site and reminded that the contentious land in question was allocated to the minority institution during the Tiwari government, allegedly flouting security objections from the Indian Military Academy (IMA). Chamoli recalled the uproar in 2022 over plans for a Muslim university, questioning its location and viability amid the charged electoral climate. The BJP firmly opposed the proposal then, and the public rebuffed Congress at the polls. He alleged that this very plot formed the foundation for that 2022 bid. Subsequently, attempts to alter the land’s usage reached the High Court, which rejected the plea. Now Chamoli has claimed that the land is now being surreptitiously diverted to members of a specific community.
Raising pointed questions, Vinod Chamoli stressed that the IMA’s presence in the area elevates this to a national security issue. He said that allotting such land for these purposes in a sensitive zone was wholly inappropriate, he asserted. He decried efforts to construct a university tied to a particular religion there, or now to settle people from a specific community, as deeply regrettable and perilous.
Chamoli further shared that during his meeting with CM Dhami, he pressed for the disputed land to be reclaimed by the government without delay and the allotment revoked outright. The CM reportedly has treated the matter with utmost gravity and promised expeditious measures. Vinod Chamoli affirmed that the BJP and the government would under no circumstances allow the schemes of heretics to prevail in the state.
