PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun  The Uttarakhand administration has made extensive security and administrative arrangements for the NEET (UG) re-examination scheduled across the State on June 21. More than 21,000 students are expected to appear for the exam at 53 examination centres set up in 10 of the State’s districts. There are 16 exam centres designated for the NEET re-examination in Dehradun. To ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the examination, the Dehradun district administration has imposed section 163 of Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) within a 200-metre radius of all examination centres. The order has been issued following instructions from the National Testing Agency (NTA). The additional district magistrate Krishna Kumar Mishra said the restrictions are necessary to maintain law and order and to provide a peaceful environment for students. The order will remain in force throughout the examination period. Any violation of the order will attract legal action under the relevant provisions of the BNSS. On Saturday, Dehradun senior superintendent of police Pramendra Dobal also inspected the security arrangements of examination centres in Dehradun district. He expressed confidence that the examination will be conducted peacefully and without any disruption. Imposition of section 163 prohibits the use of loudspeakers, public announcements, rallies, demonstrations, slogan-shouting and any activity that may disturb candidates during the examination. Authorities have also banned gatherings of five or more people near examination centres. Carrying weapons, sticks, sharp objects, explosives, or similar materials in the restricted area will not be allowed. Processions involving two wheelers, four wheelers, buses and tractor-trolleys have also been prohibited. The superintendent of police (City) Pramod Kumar said that strict security arrangements have been made for the exam. Besides local police personnel, Central Paramilitary Forces will also be deployed for the secure transportation of question papers. A sub-inspector-level officer has been appointed as the in-charge of each examination centre.
