PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun More than 48 lakh pilgrims have so far visited the State for the Char Dham Yatra this year. The Char Dham Yatra commenced this year on April 19 with the opening of portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dhams. The data of the State government shows that till August 21, a total of 48,04,897 pilgrims have visited the Chardham shrines in 125 days of this year’s pilgrimage period, while in the same period last year, 2025, 42,82,263 pilgrims had visited the State for Yatra which means that 5,22,634 more pilgrims have arrived this year as compared to last year. The data further shows that till August 21, a total of 16,54,263 pilgrims have visited Badrinath while 14,65,370 pilgrims have paid obeisance at Kedarnath Dham. A total of 7,47,671 pilgrims have visited Gangotri while 6,69,430 pilgrims have visited Yamunotri till Friday. Apart from the Char Dhams, 2, 69,430 pilgrims have paid obeisance at Hemkund Sahib shrine. What is interesting to note is that bad weather conditions during monsoon period is not acting much of a deterrence for the pilgrims from visiting the Char Dhams.
