Mussoorie, 24 May: Upon the arrival of Mala Rajyalakshmi Shah—the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Tehri parliamentary constituency—in Mussoorie, BJP workers accorded her a warm welcome. During a meeting organised by the Mussoorie BJP Mandal, the MP discussed various issues facing the city in detail and expressed her displeasure over the fact that a BJP office has not yet been established in Mussoorie. The MP stated that it is a failing on the part of the elected representatives that, to this day, the tourist city of Mussoorie lacks a dedicated office for the Bharatiya Janata Party. She instructed the BJP Mandal office-bearers to immediately commence work towards the construction of an office and assured them of every possible assistance. During the meeting, the MP also expressed concern regarding the escalating problems of traffic congestion and parking in Mussoorie. She noted that while Mussoorie is entirely dependent on tourism, the administrative disorder within the city is on the rise. She warned that, if these administrative systems are not improved in a timely manner, tourists may become disillusioned with the destination. She emphasised that while development is essential, managing the associated administrative systems is equally critical. The MP announced that a meeting would soon be convened with officials from relevant departments to address the issues facing Mussoorie and its surrounding areas, ensuring that local residents are also included in the dialogue. She stated her intention to issue directives to officials to take Mussoorie’s problems seriously and to work on a “war footing” to resolve them. She also mentioned that she would instruct the Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority to introduce a housing scheme in Mussoorie to ensure that the underprivileged have access to housing facilities. Furthermore, she emphasised the need for the speedy implementation of a Master Plan for the planned development of the city, which would help curb unauthorised construction. The MP also voiced her concern regarding healthcare facilities. She remarked that it is unfortunate that, despite the establishment of an ICU at the Mussoorie Sub-District Hospital, there remains a shortage of specialist doctors and a lack of dialysis facilities. She asserted that strengthening healthcare services should be a top priority for the government. Finally, during the meeting, the MP called upon party workers to begin their preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections immediately. He stated that it is the responsibility of party workers to ensure that the welfare schemes of both the Central and State governments reach every household.
Praising the working style of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, she remarked that the State government is working continuously to promote tourism and development. Meanwhile, the MP also took aim at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding the comments he made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. She emphasised that maintaining decorum in public discourse is essential, and leaders should speak thoughtfully before making any statements. Present on this occasion were a large number of BJP workers, including former Municipal Council Chairman OP Uniyal, BJP Mandal President Rajat Agarwal, Narendra Melwan, Anita Saxena, Gambhir Panwar, Jagjit Kukreja, Arvind Semwal, Sachin Panwar, Ashish Joshi, Vijay Bindwal, Devendra Malasi, and Ankit Panwar.
