DEHRARUN, 3 Jan: The weather in Mussoorie, the Queen of the Hills, has suddenly changed. Mussoorie is enveloped in thick clouds, leading to a significant drop in temperature. The icy winds have made people feel the biting cold. The situation is such that locals and tourists alike are having to rely on warming themselves up.
People are lighting bonfires to ward off the cold in the city, while the demand for heaters has increased in hotels and homestays. Shopping for warm clothes has also picked up pace in Mussoorie‘s markets. The sudden change in weather has affected daily life, but tourists are showing particular enthusiasm for this weather.

Tourists from India and abroad are thoroughly enjoying exploring in the cold weather amidst the clouds. A considerable number of tourists is being seen at tourist spots like Kempty Falls, Gun Hill, Mall Road, and Lal Tibba. Many tourists say that if the weather continues like this, they might get to witness snowfall in Mussoorie.
According to locals, if the cold intensifies further, the possibility of rain and snowfall in the coming days cannot be ruled out. However, the Meteorological Department has advised caution in this regard.
Officials of the Meteorological Department said that there was less than normal rainfall in December this year, due to which the weather remained relatively dry. According to the department, there is a possibility of a change in the weather in the first week of January, but currently, the favorable temperature and conditions for snowfall have not fully developed.
Meteorologists say that until there is good rainfall in the region, the chances of snowfall remain low. They said that although the temperature has dropped, the necessary moisture for snowfall is not yet sufficient. Further changes in the weather may be seen in the coming days if a Western Disturbance becomes active. Currently, the cold weather in Mussoorie is intensifying, and people are in protection mode.
