Dehradun, 29 Jan: Acting on the directions of Municipal Commissioner Namami Bansal, the Dehradun Municipal Corporation (Doon Nagar Nigam) today carried out a major enforcement drive to remove encroachments from municipal land in the Dandakhond area. The action was taken in respect of the Municipal Corporation land bearing Khasra number 125 and was executed by a joint team of officials and staff from the Municipal Corporation and the Revenue Department.
During the drive, illegal constructions and unauthorised occupations on the government land were demolished, and the area was successfully made encroachment-free. The officers and staff of the departments concerned remained present at the site throughout the operation, while necessary administrative and security arrangements were also put in place to deal with any possible untoward situation. Owing to these measures, the entire campaign was completed in a peaceful and orderly manner without any objection by anyone.
The Municipal Corporation administration has meanwhile reiterated that encroachments on government land would not be tolerated under any circumstances and made it clear that similar strict action against illegal encroachments within the municipal limits would continue in a systematic manner in the future as well. The corporation also appealed to the general public to refrain from encroaching upon public and government property and to extend cooperation to the administration in ensuring planned and orderly development of the city.
