Dehradun, 9 Feb: Historian and author Dr Lokesh Ohri said today that, in Uttarakhand, nature and culture are deeply intertwined. Here, mountains, rivers, and forests are not merely geographical features, but an integral and living part of people’s lifestyle, traditions, and cultural consciousness.
He was addressing students at Graphic Era Hill University today. Dr Ohri said that heritage is not limited only to monuments or objects from the past, rather, it lives on in people’s lifestyles, languages, folk tales, customs, rituals, and the continuously evolving traditions connected to places. Through his presentation, he highlighted the deep connections between Uttarakhand’s folk culture, traditions, collective memories, and geographical locations.
The session was organised by the Department of English at Graphic Era Hill University. The Head of the Department, Dr Rupinder Kaur, along with Dr Lakshmi Chauhan, Dr Vipin Kumar, Himanshu Negi, other faculty members, and students were present during the session.
