Dehradun, 29 Nov: As part of the Union Government’s Yuva Aapda Mitra scheme and in compliance with directions received from the Government of India, the Secretary, Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department, Uttarakhand, and the District Magistrate, an extensive disaster management awareness and training programme for NCC cadets of Dehradun district concluded successfully today.
The training programme had begun on 23 November and concluded today. During the training period, NCC cadets were provided detailed information and imparted training on various aspects of disaster management, including the concept of disaster management and the Disaster Management Act 2005, preparedness and safety measures related to earthquakes, landslides, floods, flash floods and drought, first aid and medical emergency response, chemical, nuclear, biological and radiological (CNBR) disaster management, road safety and traffic accident management, knotting and rope-handling techniques, stretcher making and safe patient transfer, methods of climbing and descending deep trenches and river crossing, forest fire and urban fire management, the use of satellite phones and communication management, and techniques for the safe movement of heavy objects.
The active participation of NCC cadets in the programme has equipped them to serve as first responders during disasters, enabling them to assist the local administration in carrying out prompt relief and rescue operations.
On the concluding day, today, Commanding Officer Col Deepak Pandey, Subedar Major Jaswinder Singh, Subedar Arun Pal, BHM Hira Pal, Havildar Shobharam Bhatt, Harendra Singh Gusain, and from the Dehradun District Disaster Management Authority, Master Trainer Raju Shahi along with Sushil Singh Kaintura and Kishan Rajguru, Master Trainers under the Yuva Aapda Mitra programme, were also present.
The disaster management master trainers played a crucial role in providing support and training throughout the programme.
