
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE With violent protests over the government’s social media ban having further intensified, Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli stepped down on Tuesday. Sources close to Oli said that he was quitting to facilitate a solution to the problem. As per information received, the Army chief had advised him to resign, saying that they could restore peace only if the PM relinquished power. Protests continued for the second day despite the government having announced withdrawal of the ban on social media platforms. The protestors remained unpacified and demanded immediate ouster of the government after 20 people had been killed on Monday.
