
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the State government has implemented the new Minority Education Act with an objective of providing quality education to the children of minority communities. He was addressing a programme at Himalayan Cultural Centre (HCC) in Dehradun on Thursday to mark the World Minorities Rights Day. He clarified that the new law is not limited to any one religion but will provide equal opportunities in the educational sector to all the minorities such as Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Jews and Muslims. Now the students in all the Madarsas will be taught the prescribed syllabus of the Uttarakhand Board along with the religious education. Dhami said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, all communities are being promoted with the Mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. He said that all members of the minority community are being integrated into the mainstream with the help of schemes such as Jan Dhan Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, PM Awas Yojana and the free ration scheme. The CM said that schools, colleges, hostels, ITIs, health centres and skill development institutes are being established in minority-dominated areas. He averred that concrete steps have also been taken towards transparent and accountable management of Waqf properties through reforms in the new Waqf laws, so that the true benefits of these properties reach the poor, needy and backward sections of society. He added that the State government is providing incentives to minority students for preparation for various competitive examinations through the Chief Minister’s Minority Incentive Scheme. Annual scholarships are also being provided to minority students under the Pre-Matriculation and Post-Matriculation Scholarship Schemes. “ By implementing the Uniform Civil Code, we have shown the entire country a new direction towards social justice and equality,’’ he said. Dhami said that a minority development fund has been established to accelerate economic and educational development in minority areas and an amount of Rs four crore is being made available annually. He added that the government has enacted an anti-conversion law in the State to ensure the protection of the autonomy of all religions. This law prevents conversions through coercion, inducement, or deception and maintains social harmony. On this occasion, vice president of Uttarakhand Minority Commission Farzana Begum and others attended the programme.
