PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the officials to constitute a new Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe complaints of irregularities in appointments, promotions and other issues in GB Pant Engineering College Ghurdauri, Pauri. He gave the order while chairing a meeting held at the secretariat here on Tuesday regarding the development of the engineering institutes of the state at the national level. Dhami has directed the State administration to deploy faculty in all the engineering colleges of the State as per the norms. The CM said that along with the arrangement of basic facilities, hostels and boundary walls in all the engineering colleges of the state, better road connectivity should also be ensured.  He expressed displeasure over the lack of recruitments in engineering colleges as per the norms and system set in place for the recruitment process. The CM also expressed his annoyance at the decrease in enrolment of the students in the engineering colleges of the State. He directed the officers that along with increasing student registration, attention should be paid to better curriculum as well use of the latest technology in all trades. Dhami said that arrangements should also be ensured for placement of students from the campus itself. On a stern note, the CM ordered investigation into the non-operation of classes in the building constructed at Madhdura in Pithoragarh for the  Nanhi Pari Seemant Engineering Institute. He said that a thorough investigation should be conducted as to who had selected the place for the engineering institute and whether this place was suitable or not. “If it was not suitable, then why was the engineering institute built at this place? Why are classes not being conducted in this building even after spending about Rs 15 crore on the building?’’ he questioned. It is worth noting that at present this engineering college is being operated in the building of Government Inter College.   The Technical Education minister Subodh Uniyal, deputy chairman of Infrastructure Monitoring Council Vishwas Dawar, chief secretary Anand Bardhan, principal secretary RK Sudhanshu, secretary Ranjit Sinha, vice chancellor of Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University Onkar Singh, additional secretary Swati Bhadauria and directors of engineering institutes attended the meeting.
