
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun A day after talking to his Tripura counterpart Manik Saha, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has stated that the State government has taken the murder of student Angel Chakma from Tripura very seriously. Dhami said on Sunday that any such incident is not acceptable in Uttarakhand, adding that the government will deal sternly with anarchist elements and that those involved in such incidents will not be spared. Five accused have been nabbed in the case so far with two of them juveniles who have been sent to the correctional home. The police are searching for the sixth absconding accused with a reward of Rs 25,000 having been announced on his arrest. A police team has been sent to Nepal in search of the accused with Dhami directing the police to arrest him at the earliest. Stating that the absconding accused will be caught by the police soon, the CM warned that those breaking the law should not expect mercy from the government. Such anarchist elements will not be tolerated under any circumstances as the State government remains committed to ensure the safety of every person living in Uttarakihand, he said. It will be recalled that students Angel Chakma and his brother Michael Chakma lived near the Nanda Ki Chowki in the Premnagar police station area. They had gone out for some work on the evening of December 9 in the Selaqui area when they got involved in an argument with the accused who had reportedly passed racial comments on them. They were attacked with knives and blunt objects. Angel Chakma died during treatment on December 26. According to officials, while three accused have been sent to jail, two have been sent to a correctional home. The police are searching for the absconding accused who hails from Nepal.
